REVIEWS
"The Crucible is back in action and doing its very best to soar to the sky.
Popular children's tale My Dad's A Birdman opened on Saturday and was many families first chance to take a look inside the theatre since its multi-million pound makeover.
Most of the very young children the show is aimed at had never set foot inside the famed theatre and to make it even better they were all invited to take their place on stage. The youngsters were urged to sit just inches from the actors and delighted at being so close to the action.
The play by David Almond revolves around a slightly nutty dad and his daughter, who are determined to fly like birds.
It is a cast of just four but they are boosted along the way with puppets and a few feathery friends.
There is worm eating, dumpling munching and crazy flying as well as a good splattering of simple childish fun.
The kids won't miss anything with the best seats in the house and judging by their faces, a whole new generation of Crucible fans are well on their way to becoming converts."
